2024/25 Enrolment

Grade level lotteries were successfully run on April 1st.  Campus staff are not able to amend or update applications, nor can they provide updates on lottery position or the number of spots available in each grade. If you need to correct or add information to your application, please email  applications@classicalacademy.ca. Due to the volume of applications received, email inquiries related to application or lottery number status will not be answered. Please continue to check the website for regular updates.

Families of those students with a sufficiently high lottery position will be contacted directly by the campus administrators before the end of April to attend an interview/assessment at the school. Acceptance letters will be sent by email to students with a place in the school during the month of May.

If you are not contacted by the school by the end of month, this means your application will remain waitlisted unless otherwise notified. Families will be informed of their waitlist number by early June via email. Wait list positions shall be reset annually. If a waitlisted student is not accepted in a given year, they must renew their entry in the lottery.

PRE-REGISTRATION FAQs

February 12, 2024: Application portal opens for new students and siblings of current students

New prospective students and siblings of current ACA students can begin applying at 9:00am. Siblings of existing students have priority status in accordance with the ACA Enrolment and Waitlist Policy. Students without priority status will be entered into a lottery. Please apply before April 1st to ensure your entry in the lottery.

March 6 - March 20, 2024: Re-registration opens for returning students

Current ACA pupils are invited to re-enrol for the 2024/25 school year beginning at 11:00am on March 6. Families will receive an email with instructions on how to access the portal to re-enrol. Neglecting to re-enrol by March 20, 2024 may result in placement for the 2024/25 school year being forfeit. March 20th is also the last day for new sibling applications.

At a later date, to be determined, a separate form will be sent to current CCA families to register for busing, childcare, and to pay all required registration fees. Please watch your email and this webpage for updates. Neglecting to pay fees in the designated time frame may result in placement for the 2024/25 school year being forfeit. Please contact the school if you require assistance with re-enrolment or fee payment

April 1, 2024: Lottery day

New applicants without priority status will be entered into a lottery. Students with a sufficiently high lottery position will then be invited to an interview/assessment at the school to determine their grade placement. The application portal for new students will remain open beyond this date, with new applicants being added to the waitlists in order that their application is received.

April - May 2024: New student interviews and grade placement assessments

Pupils with sufficiently high lottery placement entering grade 5 and above will be invited to participate in a shadow day, academic screening, and/or interview. Pupils in lower grades may be invited to attend an interview and grade placement assessment at the discretion of the Principal. A small administrative fee may apply.

May 2024: Acceptance letters and registration for new students

Acceptance letters will be sent by email to students with a place in the school. Recipients have 10 business days to accept and complete the final registration process using the link provided. Neglecting to do so will result in the placement being rescinded and offered to the next eligible pupil on the waitlist

June 2024: Waitlist announcements

If a place becomes available, waitlisted pupils will be contacted in order of position on the waitlist. Wait list positions reset annually. If a waitlisted pupil is not accepted in a given year, they may renew their entry in the lottery the following year.

 FAQs

  • We welcome pupils from all socio-economic, religious, and ethnic backgrounds, and offer a community founded on friendship, conversation, respect for human dignity, and a shared love of wisdom.

Our program is demanding, both academically and in its expectations for student behaviour. It is intended for learners who are committed to seeking moral and intellectual excellence.

  • The first application period will end on lottery day, on April 1 2023. Families can still apply to join the wait list after that date, and will be added to the list based on the date their application is received.

  • Initial enrolment offers will be made in April and May of 2024. Parents who do not receive an offer of enrolment will be advised of their place on the waitlist by June 2024.

  • In the 2024/25 academic year, we are adding grade 9 at our Currie campus, and will then add one additional grade per year until we offer a full K-12 program.

  • Should enrolment applications exceed the maximum capacity for a given grade, pupils will be entered into a lottery, which will determine their position on a wait list. Wait lists are reset every year.

Certain categories of pupils have priority enrolment, including siblings of already-enrolled students and children transferring from another Alberta Classical Academy program.

Students with a sufficiently high place in the lottery may be invited to attend an interview, shadow day, and/or academic assessment to determine the appropriate grade placement.

  • Families of students with a sufficiently high lottery position may be invited to attend a meeting with a member of the administrative team. The purpose of this meeting is to ensure that the family understands and supports the philosophy and approach of the school, and to determine the appropriate grade placement for their child(ren). • Prospective pupils may be asked to attend a family meeting with the principal, and complete an assessment to determine the appropriate academic grade level and placement. As ours is an academically demanding program, students who are evaluated as achieving below their expected grade level may be placed in a grade that better corresponds to their level.

Students entering Grade 5 and above are also expected to demonstrate their personal interest in attending the school, by answering two short essay questions. Sample questions will be provided in advance of the meeting.

  • We do not select students based on academic ability. We ask that parents provide their child’s most recent report cards for the purpose of determining the most appropriate grade placement for the child.

  • In order to confirm registration, we will need the following:

    • Proof of Canadian citizenship or valid immigration status (e.g. birth certificate, passport, permanent residency card, etc.)

    • Parent Commitment Form

    • Copy of two most recent report cards (for children transferring from other schools)

    • Copy of Provincial Achievement Test results (if applicable)

    • Copy of Individual Program Plan (IPP) (if applicable)

    • Copy of Psycho-Educational Assessment (if applicable)

    • Legal documentation pertaining to custody orders or court protection orders (if applicable)
